【摘要】:Electricalequipmenthasthepotentialtofailasaresultofelectricaltrackingofinsulatingmaterialthatisexposedtovariouscontaminatingenvironmentsandsurfaceconditions.AnumberofASTMandothertestshavebeendesignedtoquantifybehaviorofmaterials,especiallyatrelativelyhighvoltages.Thismethodisanacceleratedtestwhichatrelativelylowtestvoltages,providesacomparisonoftheperformanceofinsulatingmaterialsunderwetandcontaminatedconditions.TheTrackingIndexx2014;CopperElectrodestestisnotrelateddirectlytothesuitableoperatingvoltageinservice.Whenorganicelectricalinsulatingmaterialsaresubjectedtoconductioncurrentsbetweenelectrodesontheirsurfaces,manyminutetree-likecarbonaceouspathsortracksaredevelopedneartheelectrodes.Thesetracksareorientedrandomly,butgenerallypropagatebetweentheelectrodesundertheinfluenceoftheappliedpotentialdifference.Eventuallyaseriesoftracksspanstheelectrodegap,andfailureoccursbyshortingoftheelectrodes.Asinothertrackingtestmethods,forexample,IEC112andTestMethodD3638,thistestmethodspecifiestestproceduresthatareintendedtopromotetheformationofsurfacedischargeswhichwillproducecarbontracksinareproduciblemanner.Sincetheseconditionsrarelyreproducetheactualconditionsencounteredinservice,theresultsoftrackingtestscannotbeusedtoinfereitherdirectorrelativeservicebehaviorofamaterialinaspecificdesignapplication.Trackingtestscanbeusedforscreeningpurposesonly.Suitabilityisverifiedthroughtestingofthematerialinactualenduseorunderconditionsthatcloselysimulateactualenduse.TheuseofcopperelectrodesinthistypeoftestwasdevelopedattheUniversityofCincinnati,NEMAlaboratory.ItisfeltbythemembersoftheIndustrialLaminatesSectionofNEMAthatusingcopperelectrodesgivesamorerealisticvalueforatrackingindex,relatedtotheresinsystemusedtoreinforcethesubstrateofalaminate.Ingeneral,trackingtestsmadewithcopperelectrodestendtogivelowervaluesthanplatinumelectrodesinthesametypeoftest.Itisafactthatcopperismorewidelyusedthanplatinumforelectricalconductors.1.1Thistestmethodwasdevelopedusingcopperelectrodestoevaluatethelow-voltage(upto600V)trackingresistanceofmaterialsinthepresenceofaqueouscontaminants.Note18212;Atthistime,onlyindustriallaminateshavebeenexaminedusingthismethodwhichwasdevelopedattheNationalManufacturersElectricalAssociation(NEMA)laboratorylocatedattheUniversityofCincinnati.Itwasfoundthatacloserendpoint(lessscatter)wasobtainedthanwithplatinumelectrodes,andmaterialstestedtendedtoberankedbyresinsystem.1.1.1Itisacceptabletoconsiderotherelectrodematerialsforusewiththistestmethoddependingupontheapplicationoftheinsulatingmaterial.1.2ThistestmethodissimilartoTestMethodD3638,whichdeterminesthecomparativetrackingindexofmaterialsusingplatinumelectrodestoproducethetrackingonthespecimensurface.1.3Thevaluesstatedinmetric(SI)unitsarethestandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsofthemetricunitsareapproximate.1.4Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessment......
