【摘要】:Thepresenceofcyanogenchlorideinchlorinatedsanitaryandindustrialeffluentsandthereforereceivingwatersisofconcernbecauseofitstoxicitytoaquaticlife.Thistestmethodprovidesananalyticalprocedureformeasuringcyanogenchlorideinwater.Thistestmethodisapplicableforcleanmetalfinishingandchlorinatedsanitaryandindustrialeffluents,andalsocanbeusedtoestablishprocesscontrolofcyanidedestructionbychlorinationinwastewatertreatmentfacilities.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofcyanogenchlorideinwater.Cyanogenchlorideisnormallypresentonlyatverylowconcentrations;itisaverylabileandsparselysolublegaseouscompound.Watersamplesmaycontaincyanogenchlorideafterthechlorinationofwastewaterscontainingcyanideorthiocyanatecompounds.1.2Cyanogenchlorideisunstable.Aquicktestusingaspotplateorcomparatorassoonasthesampleiscollectedmaybethebesttest,reducingthelossofcyanogenchlorideduringthetimelapsebetweensamplingandanalysis.(Seeforatypicaldecaycurveforcyanogenchlorideinasolution.)1.3Thistestmethodhasbeenusedsuccessfullywithreagentwater.Theanalystisresponsiblefordeterminingwhetherthetestmethodisapplicabletothewatermatrixbeingtested.ReferenceismadetoTestMethodDofTestMethodsD2036whichisbasedonsimilarchemicalreactionsandhasbeenevaluatedbycollaborativetestinginthismatrix.1.4Thelowerlimitofdetectabilityis0.005mgCN/L.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninNote0andNote0andSection.
